Exciting [Gluten-Free] BBQ Party Updates

Almost immediately after we published the official invitation to our 1st Annual Gluten-Free Chill & Grill BBQ party we were contacted by several different companies that wanted to add to the fun.

Now there will be an assortment of gluten-free desserts from two different gluten-free bakeries. We'll also be giving out goodie bags that will include gluten-free food samples from Mary's Gone Crackers and a coupon for 15% at Friedman's deli in NYC.

As if this isn't good enough news, Vanessa Phillips scored a discount with her food suppliers and now the cost per person will be dropped to $30. Remember, this is an all-you-can-eat event.

It turns out that minors are allowed until 7pm. [Sorry, I assumed since the venue is a traditional bar that there were no minors ever allowed. Hey, I'm from Oregon.]

In case you were wary of trekking outside of the isle of Manhattan, I'd like to reassure you that Mickey John's, the location of the event, is just a few stops outside of Manhattan on the 7 train and then about two blocks from there. It is a classic Irish bar with an adorable outdoor patio where your food will be grilled by a professional chef, Tryg Siverson. Mickey John's doesn't normally serve food, so there really is no need to be nervous about gluten lurking anywhere.

In Answer to Your Questions

There will be gluten-free beer and a full bar at the party. Drinks will be purchased separately from the bar. The bar is going out of their way to order Redbridge gluten-free beer for the party. And sorry, but pets are not allowed. [Yes, someone was polite enough to ask if Snoopy could come too!]

Did I miss anything? If you have any suggestions or questions please let us know. Also, if this doesn't appeal to you for some reason we'd like to hear from you too. Please tell us why. Don't be shy.

Please RSVP by August 3rd.

Have a great weekend!

Darn. Wish I could come - but we're not available to drive down to NYC that day - otherwise we would! Hey, we were in NYC yesterday and had lunch at Bloom's. Although it wasn't the best deli I've ever been to, having a sandwich on GF toasted bread was heavenly. And the french fries - REAL GF french frieds. Yes, it was a good day!
