Grandma Baked These

Joan's GF Great Bakes

Who needs Williams-Sonoma croissants when instead you can treat yourself to Joan's tastes-like-the-real-thing gluten-free bagels and english muffins?! These are the only gluten-free (and corn-free) bagels that will truly satisfy your bagel cravings. And her english muffins could fool any gluten lover. We sampled Joan's treats awhile back and we were blown away.  We didn't want to tease you though, because they weren't available for shipping at the time. Now Joan is set up to ship overnight anywhere in the U.S.!

What's Joan's secret to good taste? The key is these treats arrive frozen, and YOU bake them. As a grandmother dedicated to finding a way to serve her gf grandchildren food that met her high standards of taste, she told me her "Aha!" moment happened while watching chef Ming Tsai on the Food Network prepare fried rice. Ming explained that perfect fried rice requires you to freeze the cooked rice before frying it. This is because the freezing sucks out all of the moisture from the rice [light bulb in Joan's head goes off]. This helped Joan understand why the texture of most gf foods are dry, since most of them are shipped frozen AFTER being baked. To solve this problem, she sends you her dough frozen and double sealed, so you end up with super fresh product to eat, immediately after baking. What would we do without grandma's like Joan?

Man, if these are even half as good as they look, I will be a very, very happy man.

While I clean up the drool off the floor, could someone tell me how I could get these? Thanks!

Click on the title for the link to her website. :-)

Yum! I cannot wait until they ship to Canada! They would fool anyone!

For anyone in the Toronto area similar gf bagels, cookie dough, pastry and "magic bread dough" can be found from Molly B Gourmet at the Pickering Market on the weekends and the Waldorf market on Saturdays. Their products are virtually no different from the gluten versions. Very, very yummy.

My sister just gave me this new product as a gift! Who knew that I would be able to have a cold beer again.
It's a product that Lakeview Brewery produces.

Wow, Baby! Those English muffins look like the real deal, all toasty and golden and just begging for a schmear of peanut butter. [Did I say that out loud?] Sigh.

Please tell me how or where I can purchase these bagels and english muffins? And at what price? Haven't had or seen anything that looks this good since I have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease last year. Thank you.
Myra

Ann-
Thanks for the hot tip about Pickering Market. I'll be home in Whitby this summer, and will be sure to check out Molly B!

Myra- Just click on the title which will take you to the bagel website where you can order them.

Oh my. I've been searching around for English muffins. They are the one thing I still crave. Mmmm.

These look so yummy!

The English Muffins are Amazing!!! I was skeptical, so only ordered one pack, and the shipping nearly put me in the poorhouse, but it's worth it. I've been feeling like the English PATIENT for more than four years, but eating these English Muffins was as revelatory as when Juliet Binoche gave Ralph Fiennes "a very plum plum." Well worth the cost, and they arrive in one day. Now pardon me while I toast up another one.

Hi, I have a gluten free bakery called Bread of Life that makes simply delicious muffins and brownies. I wondered where I might send the Celiac Chicks a sample???
Thank you!

Man oh man do those look amazing. I can't wait to get my first order!

Wow! These look incredible! I have just started a gluten free product review site as a hobby, and I will definately have to give these a try. I just found your site and look forward to reading more. Thanks!

I have just begun the process of beatification for Joan; Sainthood is next. I believe that requires two miracles for which there is no scientific explanation. The first was her English Muffins. The second is her chocolate chip cookies. Simply not of this world. They'd be my choice even if I could still eat wheat. If Joan ever masters pizza... fuhgeddaboudit.

Alan,

Get your "Fuhgeddaboudit" ready as my mom, Joan of GF Great Bakes, will be introducing her pizza at the Suffolk Vendor Fair on April 29th. She has actually been making pizza for a while and it is OUTSTANDING. The delay has been the packaging. I recommend getting to Joan at the fair early as these will not last too long. Like all her products, these will be frozen pie crusts, ready to bake and decorate them as you see fit. As the Uncle to Joan's two celiac grandchildren, I take a pizza crust to a local pizzeria and have them make it for me. Then it is real Italian pizza, not some copy that wont get past a New Yorker or a 4th grader :) Looks real, tastes real and it is real, just no wheat or gluten !

Get your sauce and cheese ready. See you at the fair !!

Howard

Where do I order Joan's GF Eng. muffins and bagels? I checked the website and there is no where to order on the website.

I ordered these as soon as I saw the post on this site... they are unbelievable!!!! So delicious... you would never know they are gluten free. My freezer is full of them! They are great right out of the oven and straight from the toaster.
